The Celtic USA Tour 2024 is only a few weeks away now, as the club prepare to kick off their pre-season plans in earnest next month. Celtic are set to play three high-profile exhibition matches Stateside after taking on the likes of Ayr United and Queen's Park in Scotland beforehand.

Celtic will be keen to extend last season's successes, when Brendan Rodgers and his players clinched a traditional league and Scottish Cup double. Despite being run close by rivals Rangers at points in the season, the Hoops finished eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

In the Scottish Cup Final 2024, a solitary Adam Idah strike in the 90th minute made the difference at the national stadium. And now, with automatic UEFA Champions League qualification guaranteed for a third consecutive year, Brendan Rodgers' men have plenty to look forward to in 2024/25.

Before that, though, Celtic's preseason schedule ahead of the new campaign kicks off in earnest, with their US adventure spanning Washington D.C., North Carolina and Indiana.

Again, Celtic will play Ayr United on Friday, July 5 and Queens Park (behind closed doors) on Wednesday, July 10. They jet off to America shortly after that.

Read on for our rundown of the Celtic USA Tour 2024 – all you need to know about Celtic's preseason plans.

When is the Celtic USA tour 2024?

Celtic's USA tour runs between Saturday, July 20 to Saturday, July 27.

Who are Celtic playing during their preseason USA tour?

Celtic will play MLS side D.C. United, as well as English Premier League outfits Manchester City and Chelsea.

Celtic vs D.C. United

Date: Sunday, July 21 (Saturday, July 20 local time)
Kick-off time: 12.30am UK (7.30pm local time)
Stadium: Audi Field (20,000 capacity)

Celtic's first match in their tour of the United States sees them plan MLS outfit D.C. United on Sunday, June 21 at 12:30am UK time. Due to the five-hour time difference between America and Scotland, the local kick-off off time is 7:30pm on Saturday, June 20.

The game will be played at D.C. United's home ground, the Audi Field, a 20,000-seater stadium shared by D.C. United, D.C. Power FC and Washington Spirit; as well American football side the DC Defenders.

Since Major League Soccer was founded in 1996, D.C. United have won 13 trophies, including the MLS itself four times, in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2004.

With the current MLS season still ongoing (running from February 21 to October 19 this year, with playoffs following thereafter), D.C. have endured a season of ups and downs, placing them, at the time of writing, in the bottom half of the 15-team Eastern Conference table.

Celtic vs Manchester City

Date: Wednesday, July 24 (Tuesday, July 23 local time)
Kick-off time: 12.30am (7.30pm local time)
Stadium: Kenan Stadium (50,500 capacity)

Celtic's second match on their American tour is against English Premier League champions, Manchester City. This game will take place at the University of North Carolina's Kenan Stadium, a college football arena in the state's Chapel Hill area with a capacity of 50,500.

The last time Celtic played Manchester City was during the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League group-stages, when Brendan Rodgers' side held Pep Guardiola and his men to a point at home and away.

Patrick Roberts struck at the Etihad in a 1-1 draw, whereas a Moussa Dembele double and a Raheem Sterling OG (forced by Kieran Tierney) filled out the scoresheet at Celtic Park.

Proceeds from this match will go to the UNC Children's Hospital.

Celtic vs Chelsea

Date: Saturday, July 27
Kick-off time: 9pm UK time (4pm local time)
Stadium: Notre Dame Stadium (77,622 capacity)

Celtic's third and final match on their USA Tour 2024 is against Chelsea. The game will be played at the Notre Dame Stadium, a 77,622-seater stadium that's home to the Notre Dame University Fighting Irish American football team.

With 18 wins, 9 draws and 11 losses over the course of the 2023/24 English Premier League trail, the consistency of the Stamford Bridge club was at times questioned, however five wins in their final five games saw them leapfrog a number of teams to finish in sixth place.

This saw the London outfit finish just three points behind Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur and five points behind Unai Emery's Aston Villa, however manager Mauricio Pochettino was nevertheless dismissed following the conclusion of the season.

Former Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has replaced the outgoing Pochettino, with the Italian having led Leicester out of the English Championship and back into the Premier League.
