Charlie Mulgrew has been named Hamilton Academical under-18 coach.

The former Celtic and Dundee United defender landed the role after being linked with a return to Lennoxtown in a youth coaching position.

Mulgrew had reportedly been a contender to take over as under-18 head coach at Celtic but has now joined newly promoted Championship side Hamilton.

A club announcement hailed the new hire citing a "dedication to investing in the future and fostering a strong pathway for young players to progress".

A club statement read: "Hamilton Academical FC is proud to announce the appointment of former Scotland International footballer, Charlie Mulgrew, as the new Coach for the club’s Under 18’s Elite Youth Academy.
