Celtic have been offered the chance to sign long-term target Wilfred Ndidi, according to a report.

Brendan Rodgers will finally have the chance to act to reunite with the former Leicester City midfielder this summer.

The pair worked together during the Northern Irishman's time at the King Power.

The 27-year-old became a free agent at the beginning of the month following the expiry of his contract with the Foxes.

He's been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe in the past - including both Manchester United and Real Madrid.

It's claimed that, back in 2021, Leicester wanted a whopping £52m for him.

Having helped them win the Championship title, and with the club now back in the Premier League, the Nigerian will move on to pasture new, with his deal not renewed by the recruitment team, and new boss Steve Cooper.

And The Mirror reports that heading to Glasgow to join the Scottish Premiership champions is one route Ndidi could take.

Rodgers previously praised Ndidi, telling Leicester Mercury: "He’s obviously a player that’s got the good athletic ability and works very hard.

“I always have that sort of player, a clear, controlling player in the game. Sometimes, they’re a defensive type like him that can really press the game and play simply, or sometimes, it’s a more creative player, a playmaker from behind.

“He’s got so much talent and been very impressive. He covers the ground so fast. His anticipation is very good, he reads the game, smells the danger, and to have that type of player in there, it’s very important.”

As recently as 2023, it was reported that Real Madrid might target the player for cover in holding midfield.
