Celtic have been mentioned as a possible loan destination for Ben Doak.

Doak was previously in the Hoops' youth academy and was handed his first team debut under Ange Postecoglou in January 2022 and even got a brief taste of the Glasgow Derby before joining Liverpool for around £600,000 two months later.

Since then, the 18-year-old has featured 10 times for Liverpool, including cameos in the Europa League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and English Premier League.

He was initially called up among Steve Clarke's squad that was to compete at the European Championships in Germany this summer, however a knee injury prevented him from a dream tournament experience as he was forced to withdraw his participation.

With Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield hot seat, it remains to be seen whether Doak will be given a chance to prove his worth among the senior team.

Today, a report from the Liverpool Echo states the speedy forward could be shipped out on loan for valuable experience this season once he's fully recovered from his injury setback - and Celtic Park may be a destination he could return to with Brendan Rodgers openly admitting his squad still needs extra bodies to compete on all four fronts.

The transfer update read: "Leicester and Southampton are two of the clubs interested (in Doak), and potentially Celtic as well. The plan is to sit down with his representatives - it might even happen this week - and discuss what is next and what is the best fit for him. Is he going to feature much this season? Maybe not.

"It might be best for him to get a loan, shake off those injury issues and have a good uninterrupted season and I guess it is just a case of where that is and what is the best fit for him. Big conversations to be had but I still think Liverpool see a real asset there for the long-term."

They also credit Celtic and Rangers as interested parties in his Liverpool teammate, Bobby Clark.

"Bobby Clark is a player who has loads of interest," it continued. "Celtic and Rangers are in the mix. Salzburg had the bid rejected. Pretty much half of the Championship are interested. Norwich are one of them, Leeds United and Derby County possibly. So yeah you can see why he is attracting interest.

"Obviously he's a player who is yet to properly break into the first-team fold on a regular basis. But he's had enough of a taste hasn't he? I think he made his senior debut in the Premier League against Forest was it? A player with a huge future really. Liverpool very relaxed about the situation.

"Liverpool are not looking to massively entertain permanent bids but £6million is way short of what they feel his valuation is at this stage.

“He does want to go on loan so I think they will look at the landscape there and a loan could be the next step for him."
