Celtic are reportedly plotting a double transfer move for a midfield pair.

The Scottish Premiership champions are thought to be watching Belgian wonderkid Arne Engels while Dundee standout Luke McCowan is being considered as a transfer target.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are keen on Augsburg man Engels with the midfielder valued at £10m - meaning a deal would be Celtic's record fee.

Engels is primarily a central midfielder but can also be deployed on the right flank.

The 20-year-old could be viewed as a successor to Matt O'Riley with Atalanta potentially ready to up their interest after agreeing a fee to see Teun Koopmeiners head for Juventus.

That in turn could have a knock-on effect in Celtic's pursuit of Engels with the under-21 cap - signed for around £100k - available this summer despite having years left on his Augsburg deal.

Meanwhile, McCowan has been touted for a move to Celtic to bolster Brendan Rodgers' squad.

It's claimed the 26-year-old could be a valuable addition at Parkhead as Celtic compete in European and domestic fronts.

Hibs have had an offer thrown out for the midfielder with a fee of around £750k not enough for Dundee to part with their star player.

However, reports state an approach is now expected from Celtic to try and sign McCowan.
