Neil Lennon has been handed a vote of confidence by Rapid Bucharest president Viorel Moldovan.

The former Celtic and Hibs boss has come under pressure in Romania after a disappointing start to his tenure following four draws out of his first five league matches and a defeat.

Rapid are the only club in Romania's top flight without a win and face a derby this weekend against Dinamo Bucharest.

But he's received backing from his president ahead of the showdown on Sunday.

Moldovan said: "We trust Neil. He is very professional.

"I have seen stories about the players not trusting Neil, but they are not true. I had discussions with Neil and the players.

"The problem at the moment is that the players haven't managed to move what they are showing in training into games yet.

"Look at last season, we went 15 games without a win. We have to get rid of that mentality.

"We have a lot of pride at this club and I hope the players start showing it in the derby on Sunday."
