Gustaf Lagerbielke finally looks set to leave Celtic.

According to Fussball Transfers journalist Dominik Schneider, the centre-back is set to leave on loan before the end of the transfer window.

He reports that SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie and Belgian Pro League side KV Mechelen are both showing interest. 

While nothing has been agreed between the player, his representatives and either club, talks are believed to have taken place in Glasgow on Monday.

The 24-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership champions a little over 12 months ago. 

He joined from Elfsborg in Norway, with Celtic forking out £3m for the Swedish international. 

Lagerbielke featured heavily under Brendan Rodgers at the start of last season, however, a mixture of injuries and lack of form saw the defender drop way down the pecking order behind the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki. 

After making eight appearances in the early weeks of the campaign, Lagerbielke then didn't appear until December when he scored the winner in Celtic's final Champions League group match against Feyenoord.

After January, he made just one appearance between then and the end of the season.

He was due to join Italian side Lecce in the winter transfer window, however, this deal fell through due to another injury sustained by Carter-Vickers.

Meanwhile, Celtic legend Neil Lennon is reportedly on the brink of leaving Rapid Bucharest. 

Reports in Romania this morning claim that a parting of the ways is due to be announced in the coming days.

Digi Sport claims the 53-year-old will leave due to poor results after just six games so far this season, as well as some of the Irishman's comments in the press upsetting club chiefs.

Lennon - who signed a two-year deal at Rapid in May - could be relieved of his duties before this Friday's match with Poli Iasi.

It's claimed by the media outlet that Rapid will pay between €250,000 - 350,000 to part with Neil Lennon and his coaching staff.
