Manchester City are considering a shock move for Celtic talisman Kyogo Furuhashi.

Worldwide renowned Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has added weight to the speculation by reporting that the Japanese international is one of the options for the Premier League champions before the window closes next week.

He wrote on X: "Manchester City are considering a move for Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic, one of the options for winger position. Initial talks took place this week as @hughmurray1894 and @samlee reported.

"City want to get Ilkay Gündogan deal done as priority… and then decide on winger."

Of course, Kyogo is not a winger and indeed is mainly utilised as the main striker for Celtic, both under Brendan Rodgers and previously by Ange Postecoglou.

Since joining the Scottish Premiership champions in the summer of 2021, the 29-year-old has scored a staggering 73 goals in 135 appearances. He's also provided 16 assists in that time.

Juanma Lillo, Manchester City's assistant manager, is familiar with Kyogo from his time as boss of Vissel Kobe.

The Hoops frontman recently opted to change agency on the eve of the new season.

He was previously represented by 'MORE THAN SPORT GMBH', but was snapped up by CAA Base a couple of weeks ago.

Kyogo is contracted at Celtic Park until the summer of 2027, so the Hoops are under no pressure to sell, nor would they let their star player walk out the door on the cheap.

Meanwhile, Douglas Ross has reflected on THAT banner that was held aloft at Celtic Park last year.

The outgoing leader of the Scottish Conservatives was the target of an X-rated message from the Green Brigade during a Scottish Cup tie in the early months of 2023.

Ross was undertaking his secondary job as a linesman that day, assisting referee Steven McLean for the cup encounter against St Mirren.

Fans of the ultras group made their feelings clear about Ross during the match, unfurling a banner displaying the message 'VAR Decisions: Douglas Ross is a ****'.
