Celtic have reportedly submitted a £6.5m bid for Arne Engels.

Parkhead chiefs are thought to have made a move to land the FC Augsburg midfielder in the final week of the transfer window.

Engels, 20, has been linked with Celtic for weeks and tipped to be a successor to Matt O'Riley who is poised to complete a record-breaking transfer switch to Brighton.

Sky Sports claim a bid has been tabled for Engels with Brendan Rodgers hopeful of bolstering his squad before the window closes.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg states Celtic are pushing for a deal to be struck with "concrete talks" having taken place.

The midfielder is thought to be keen on a move to Glasgow with personal terms agreed leaving just a fee between the clubs needing to be signed off.

Celtic have submitted a £6.5m starting offer, but it's claimed Augsburg want to keep the player and will only discuss a transfer exit in the region of €10m to €15m (£8m to £12.75m).

Gustav Isaksen and Alex Valle have also been linked with Celtic in the past 24 hours with transfer business at Parkhead seemingly beginning to ramp up.

Lazio's Isaksen is thought to have caught the attention of Celtic chiefs with a loan-to-buy deal possible while Barcelona's Valle is expected to join on loan for the season.
