Meanwhile, Gustav Isaksen was linked with a move to Celtic during the summer transfer window.

However, the Danish international insists leaving Lazio was never really on the cards for him.

The 23-year-old insists leaving the Serie A giants would've presented a 'boring' year ahead for him after learning all about the club after his move from FC Midtjylland in 2023.

Nothing came to fruition, and the winger has explained why no other club interested him this summer.

"It would be boring to have spent a whole year getting to know everything in Lazio to go somewhere new and then have to learn it all again," he told tvmidtvest. "So I told my agent that even if something exciting comes along, I would like to stay with 99 percent certainty. I feel that I have the potential to become an important man down there."
