Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was presented with a Celtic shirt ahead of a legends match on Saturday.

The former England striker played, and scored, for a Man Utd side against Celtic in a fundraising fixture at Old Trafford.

Before kick-off, though, Rooney discussed his love for Celtic and was even gifted a shirt with his name and number printed on the back.

Upon receiving the personalised Celtic kit, Rooney joked: "I'm not sure whether that will fit me now!

"Thank you very much for that, I appreciate it. I will put this up in my house."

Rooney has previously admitted he wished he could have played for Celtic during his career.

And he conceded a transfer move just "never worked out" during his playing career as he reflected on going up against Celtic for Man Utd.

"Celtic have always been a team I have followed and always wanted them to win," he said.

"Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity [to play for Celtic], I would have liked to at some point to try and play for Celtic.

"I didn't have that chance, it didn't work out."

"I think they were always special games [against Celtic]. All the Celtic fans travel in their numbers.

"To go there to Celtic and experience that atmosphere and that Champions League night was special.

"It's always special playing against Celtic."
