Celtic legend Peter Grant has pinpointed what he believes is the club’s “greatest strength” as the Hoops maintained their 100% win record in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.

A busy summer transfer window has provided Brendan Rodgers with plenty of fresh options in the middle of the park, with captain Callum McGregor recently highlighting the manager’s “headache” in choosing his starting XI – one the midfielder believes is crucial in driving high standards.

With two new midfield signings scoring their first goals for the club in the 2-0 win over Hearts at the weekend – Arne Engels and Luke McCowan – and Paulo Bernardo and McGregor also in fine form, it will be fascinating to see who is given a starting spot in Wednesday night’s Champions League opener against Slovan Bratislava.

Speaking to Go Radio, Grant said: “The players really seem to be on the cusp of something at Celtic, at this moment in time.”

“They have got real good quality. And the thing that keeps pushing them, more than anything else, is not the opponents they are playing, it’s the players that are coming in.

“Engles comes in the other day and did really well. But Paulo Bernardo didn’t deserve to be left out. I can understand the reason why – that is the biggest thing Celtic have got.

That is their greatest strength, at this moment in time. That’s what will keep them sparked up.”
