There's been no official word as yet, but it seems all but certain Celtic will extend their lucrative contract with Adidas when the current deal expires at the end of the current campaign.

Having signed with the German sports manufacturer in 2020, two standout away kits during the partnership are the mint green Love Street '86 homage for the 2020/21 season, and the black-and-green pinstripe early '90s throwback of the 2022/23 trail.

The originals of these templates were crafted by Umbro, but with Adidas' modern spin these reimaginings are up there with the best Celtic kits in recent memory.

Assuming Adidas are set to extend with Celtic, here are another five throwback retro kits we'd love to see given the same treatment.

5. 2006/07 Celtic away kit (Nike)

Perhaps best remembered for Shunsuke Nakamura's last-gasp league title-winning free-kick against Kilmarnock in 2007, the green and black stripe combination still looks stunning today.

4. 2012/13 Celtic away kit (Nike)

Worn during Celtic's first-ever UEFA Champions League away victory against Spartak Moscow, this black and grey hooped shirt was iconic – with otherwise hidden turn-up tri-colours inside the sleeves.

3. 1994/95 Celtic away kit (Umbro)

Most people hated it at the time, but one that perfectly captures the 1990s aesthetic. Sold as a retro kit in Celtic stores, an official Adidas-flavoured modern twist would be great.

2. 1991/92 Celtic away kit (Umbro)

Another that wasn't exactly loved at release, while now being considered one of the most eye-catching Celtic away kits in history, this kit reimagined without ared, white and blue sponsor could be special.

1. 1996/97 Celtic away kit (Umbro)

The iconic 'Bumblebee' kit – worn over two generations of Celtic stars, from Pierre van Hooijdonk to Jorge Cadette, Paolo Di Canio and Henrik Larsson, this is the quintessential Celtic away kit for many fans.

Remade in 2009 by Nike during a forgettable era, a new and up-to-date bumblebee kit would sell in its droves.
