Sometimes you Jota have faith.

The Celtic manager, players, and supporters certainly have it in abundance. Take the Hoops' 2-0 Scottish Premiership win over Dundee United at Tannadice as an example.

Goals by Jota and Aaron Mooy ensured Celtic's lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership remained at nine points with 15 matches left to play. It was Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou who put his trust in both players when he went all in on them and gave them the platform to elevate their careers to another level.

The Australian convinced Mooy to take a similar leap of faith and sign for the Hoops on the dotted line just as he did with Jota last summer in order to get their careers moving in the right direction again.

Yet Tannadice was a tale of two midfielders - Mooy and McGregor in particular - as well as a day of personal milestones.

The milestone being talked about most on Tayside before kick-off was the fact that Celtic's captain fantastic Callum McGregor was making his 400th appearance for the club. A monumental achievement for the midfield dynamo.

Postecoglou joked that the Scotland international had at least another 400 appearances in him as a Celtic player and that every day working with him was a privilege.

The 57-year-old said: "I just said to the lads in there, they've got to appreciate they're sharing a dressing room with a really special individual. He'll obviously go down as a legend of this football club.

"The biggest compliment I can pay him, and what I said to the boys was, he plays every game as if it's his debut. As if he's got everything to prove. He scraps for everything and is involved in everything, even though he's done it all in the game here in Scotland.

"The players see it themselves. They live and breathe it. They're amongst it every day. Mainly by actions but in his words too. I still don't know what our dressing room at Lennoxtown looks like, I don't go in there, because that's his domain.

"We are all pretty privileged to share a dressing room with him. He is an outstanding individual and a credit to himself and his family and because of the way he is, I know there is so much more to come. It was great for the lads to get the victory today in recognition of the service he has given the club already."

Yet in the City of Discovery, there was another small landmark that slipped under the radar but was no less important to those of a green and white persuasion.

Portuguese winger Jota marked 50 career matches for Celtic with a superb opening finish.

The 23-year-old has hit a staggering 17 goals and contributed 17 assists in a half-century of matches. Those stats are off the charts. Yet there are some who would argue that he has not quite reached the dizzy heights of his first season in Scottish football. That's all a matter of conjecture.

The former Benfica man's header to break the deadlock from Mooy's deep cross from the right six minutes after the restart was sensational. The result was never in any doubt after that.

When the Australian cooly slotted home from the spot to make it 2-0 it was a more accurate reflection of the scoreline in a game the Hoops controlled from start to finish. It also made it three out of three from 12 yards since Mooy was designated the club's penalty taker.

Speaking of Mooy, who has been imperious of late, Postecoglou stated that the 32-year-old could still be plying his trade at the highest level south of the border.

Celtic Way:

He told Sky Sports: "Aaron is going really well and I think since the World Cup the key thing for him is that he has built up his match fitness. He is a quality player and in any other universe, he would still be playing in the English Premier League. We are lucky he fell on our doorstep and he is lucky he fell on a doorstep that was familiar to him and I was happy to open the door.

"There is more to come from him absolutely and the one thing about Aaron, I have known him since he was a young kid, is he has a great engine and the capacity to run all day. If you look before he came to us he had not played a lot of football which I am hoping means he has saved it up for the rest of his career."

It wasn't so long ago when Postecoglou himself was the new boy in the building.

How he leant on McGregor to steer him through those tough early days. Now he's leaning on the tried and tested figure of wily, old campaigner Mooy as they both attempt to bring more silverware and success to Celtic.

While Jota was hitting the landmark of 50 appearances for the Hoops, Postecoglou was also chalking up a half-century of his own as the Aussie made it 50 league wins as Celtic manager.

As the boss himself said: "I guess it means I am still in a job and we have seen this week that you cannot take that for granted anymore in my role. I am pleased to be on the journey with the club and this group of players. Hopefully, there are 50 more wins to come."

Jota, Mooy, McGregor it doesn't really matter does it? There is a touch of Billy Joel about the Celtic manager, players and supporters, right now.
