Joe Hart: The Celtic number one got caught up in an early moment of confusion with Carl Starfelt who cannoned a back-pass off his mid-riff but he recovered sufficiently enough. His handling was always good and he kept his concentration levels high and saved excellently from George Harmon as Ross County threatened an equaliser. 7

Alistair Johnston: He rose majestically at the back post to nod back across the goal for Carter-Vickers who screwed a header over the crossbar. The Canadian was defensively solid all afternoon and continues to make steady progress with every outing in a Hoops jersey. 7

Cameron Carter-Vickers: What a chance the central defender missed to put the visitors ahead on 11 minutes when the American headed over the top when it looked easier to score. He even managed to earn a ticking off from the manager when he stroked the ball out of the park at one point in the first half. That apart he was coolness and calmness personified and just seems to stroll through matches with the minimum of fuss. 8

Carl Starfelt: “Our aim is to win every game. If you look too far ahead you might lose focus. We have great confidence as a team. We are a very strong squad and a lot of players who have played together for a long time now, the words of Starfelt ahead of this one. He was involved in the lack of communication with Joe Hart that presented an opportunity to Eamonn Brophy but the Staggies attacker could not take full advantage. He had another clumsy moment in the box with Brophy which Willie Collum rightly waved play on. He won his fair share of headers but did not seem to relish the day. 6

Greg Taylor: He cracked in a beauty that smacked back off the post three minutes before the break. He soon blasted in another effort that Laidlaw had to get down smartly to his right to save. The Scotland full-back got forward to great effect and his use of the ball from back to front was on point. He seemed to cop a real sore one on the hour mark and limped off to receive treatment before being replaced by Bernabei at 65 minutes. 6

Callum McGregor: Celtic's captain played two 90 minutes for Scotland during the international break and is the club equivalent of the Duracell bunny that genuinely never stops. He linked the play well with Iwata at times however his influence can actually be lessened and even diluted when he is not playing in the number 6 role. 7

Tomoki Iwata: It's been a long time coming but the Hoops fans finally got their chance to see the Japanese midfielder for the first time from the start after a series of impressive cameos. Last season's J1 League player of the year looked every inch a footballer and linked excellently with his compatriot Kyogo in 23 minutes which saw the attacker fire wide. He bossed proceedings and certainly dictated the tempo in the opening period. 8

Celtic Way:

Matt O'Riley: Recorded back-to-back Premiership starts as he took his appearance tally to 42 for the campaign. In the absence of both Reo Hatate and Aaron Mooy, Postecoglou turned to the Danish under-21 midfielder to be the creative hub in this one. He flashed over a dangerous ball within 60 seconds that Kyogo was inches away from connecting with. His delivery and passing were awry at times and uncharacteristically the play broke down on numerous occasions whenever he had possession. 5

Jota: Drifted in and out of the match and hammered in a wayward effort in 38 minutes. He also floated a free kick over the crossbar before the interval. He was presented with a golden opportunity from the spot during first-half injury time and he confidently rammed the ball down the middle to score the vital opener. He rounded Laidlaw after the break but the angle was too tight and his attempted shot was cleared off the line. 7

Kyogo Furuhashi: Kyogo may not be getting a look in for Japan at the international level under Hajime Moriyasu but the striker arrived in Dingwall two goals shy of hitting the 30 mark in what has been a prolific season so far. He missed an absolute sitter after being put in the clear by Maeda but he inexplicably side-footed the ball wide of the upright. 5

Daizen Maeda: He enjoyed an extended warm-up and was put through some pre-match paces by Harry Kewell which was interesting to watch as he looked to show that he had shaken off the effects of any lingering knocks. He sprinted clear of the home defence in 24 minutes but succeeded in only lashing the ball off Ross Laidlaw from the angle when he ought to have done much better. He screamed an early drive high and handsome just after the restart. He teed up Kyogo for what should have been the killer second but his finish let him down. 5

Substitutes
