Joe Hart: The Celtic number one seemed to be beaten rather easily by Curtis Main's low drive inside five minutes. He also slammed another clearance off Ryan Strain moments later. He inexplicably palmed one into the half of Strain who ought to have scored but somehow put it wide of the target and was left stranded for Main's header that made it 2-1. 5

Anthony Ralston: It was the Brickie's mistake that led to Celtic's poor start as a lack of communication with Tomoki Iwata let in Curtis Main to open the scoring after just four minutes. He jabbed out a lazy leg and it was really sloppy piece of play when Iwata looked better placed to deal with things and then watched on as Main checked inside him and drilled home. He is looking every inch a back-up player to Alistair Johnston now. 5

Carl Starfelt: "We know this is a tough opponent who are very physical but we focus on our game, and it is important to build momentum ahead of the cup final." The Swede had a new defensive partner as he reverted to left centre-back again to accommodate Tomoki Iwata. Main troubled both Starfelt and his partner and the Saints attacker lost the former when he headed home to make it 2-1. He looked hesitant and shaky on occasions when the ball came into the box. 6

Tomoki Iwata: The Japanese midfielder was deployed at right centre-back as Ange Postecoglou experimented again with his backline. He was drafted in at the expense of compatriot Yuki Kobayashi having played there before for Yokohama F. Marinos. However, he was better placed than Ralston to deal with the long ball from St Mirren goalkeeper Trevor Carson that caused consternation at the back and ended up with Main slamming home a low drive. He was in a real contest with constant menace Main, although he was involved in the build-up to the equaliser with a killer pass to Hatate who fed Kyogo to do the rest. 5

Greg Taylor: Restored to the starting eleven at the expense of Argentine Alexandro Bernabei. He wasn't able to effect or influence the game the way he normally does from the inverted full-back position but he wasn't alone in that. 6

Callum McGregor: "It’s been a few weeks since we have been there (at Celtic Park) and it’s great to go back as champions. The objective has been completed and it will be a great lift for the players to get back in front of the supporters.” The Celtic skipper had a rare bad day at the office at Ibrox last weekend but he stepped up to the plate and curled home the all-important equaliser to make it 2-2 with a superb effort just when Celtic needed it most. 7

Reo Hatate: The PFA Scotland Player of the Year nominee produced a neat shunt to his countryman Kyogo Furuhashi after a quarter of an hour and the result was inevitable as the striker blasted home the equaliser. He cracked an effort over the top from just outside the box. Showed increased signs that he is rediscovering some form. 6

Matt O'Riley: Voted Celtic's Young Player of the Year at the club awards last weekend and has featured in every game whether from the start or the bench. He hit a shot that Carson saved down low at his left-hand post. He saw another deflected effort clawed away by Carson as well as a fierce drive beaten away. The Dane floated a lovely through ball to Daizen Maeda at one point in the first half and he always looked to be creative even if it didn't come off all the time. 6

Celtic Way: Celtic Way Specia lOffer

Jota: The Portuguese winger was fresh from celebrating his PFA Scotland Goal of the season award or his audacious effort against Rangers in the 4-0 win at Celtic Park back in September. He danced and jinked around in the opening 45 and thought he had a penalty when Main nudged him in the back in the box, but he did seem to go down rather easily. He was more of a threat after the interval as he became more productive in the final third. 6

Kyogo Furuhashi: He hammered home goal number 31 in 50 appearances this season with an emphatic finish high past Carson. That's 51 in his Celtic career already and he is clearly hungry for more. 6

Daizen Maeda: The Japanese winger missed out on last weekend's debacle at Ibrox and replaced Liel Abada for this one. He got to the dead ball line often enough but his delivery often lacked accuracy and it is the big Achilles heel in his game at times. He volleyed a sitter over the bar but was rightfully flagged offside and hit the sidenetting with what should have been a simple tap-in. 5

Substitutes:

Oh Hyeon-gyu (O'Riley 71): The South Korean attacker was flung on for the final 20 minutes as Celtic tried to salvage the match. He spun and cracked in an effort that smashed back off the post. 4

Liel Abada (Maeda 71): The Israeli alongside his fellow substitiutes helped drag Celtic back into the contest with just under 20 minutes left on the clock. 4

Sead Haksabanovic (Hatate 71): Handed a 20 minute cameo in the midfield as he gave Celtic some fresh impetus in the final third. 4
