Celtic have been linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
The 26-year-old has endured a torrid time since his switch from Ajax to Old Trafford three years ago, Injuries and loss of form saw van de Beek loaned out to Goodison Pak outfit Everton in 2022.
However, reports suggest that the Dutchman could be on his way out of the Reds after failing to establish himself in Erik ten Hag's plans.
That has alerted Celtic as well as a whole host of other clubs with English Premier League sides Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace as well as Seville, Nice and Serie A sides reputedly interested in his services.
Celtic in the past has benefitted greatly from loan deals with options to buy and they exercised that right recently in the cases of both Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Although the club did pass up on the opportunity to sign the likes of Oliver Abildgaard and Moritz Jenz with similar deals.
Van de Beek would be a costly option and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will be mindful that the Scottish champions were burned financially when they opted for an expensive loan option when they brought in Belgian starlet Charly Musonda from Chelsea in season 2017-18.
Musonda made just eight appearances for Celtic in all competitions Any deal for van de Beek is still a long way off for a club like Celtic due to van de Beek's wage demands.
The Hoops hierarchy knows they may need to make a significant contribution to the player's wages and that there will not be an option to buy at the end of any contract.

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon believes a temporary stint at Parkhead could get the player's ailing career back on track even if a deal seems a long way off.
Speaking on Go Radio's Football Show, Lennon said: "His (van de Beek's) career has sort of stalled a bit. He was outstanding for Ajax the season they got to the semi-finals of the Champions League in that really good young Ajax team.
"He went to United and it didn't work out and he went on loan to Everton and that didn't work out either. So he needs a kickstart and maybe Celtic is that place for him.
"He's certainly shown he's got the pedigree and you never lose it, you just sometimes lose your confidence or your hunger and lose your way a little bit.
"Players of that calibre just need a restart and maybe he's thinking Celtic might be that place to go but I mean, there's a lot of work to be done in a deal involving that."“He'll be on huge money, let's not beat around the bush here. Realistically, if you're talking about (Scott) McTominay, (Kieran) Tierney or van de Beek, it'll probably be a loan and Celtic making a contribution to the wages.”
