Brendan Rodgers has assured Celtic fans that there is money in the club's transfer kitty.

However, the 50-year-old insists that he will not be reckless with the coffers and purchase a multi-million player for the sake of it.

Celtic do have plenty of cash to spend, especially after landing a bumper £25 million fee for winger Jota earlier this window.

Rodgers took over the managerial reins from Ange Postecoglou who quit Parkhead to take over English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and was given assurances by the Hoops hierarchy that there would be funds made available to build his Celtic squad into a competitive European force.

The Scottish champions are set to announce deals for Korean youngsters Yang Hyun-jun and Kweon Hyeok-kyo this week as Rodgers admitted that Celtic already have a successful transfer model already in place.

That won't stop the 50-year-old from targeting quality over quantity if the right player comes along.

It remains to be seen if Rodgers will smash his own and Celtic's club record transfer outlay which currently stands at £9 million for Frenchman Odsonne Edouard.

He said: "Yes, there’s money there, but it doesn’t always mean if you spend £9m or £10m you are going to get a top player.

"There might be someone within your academy or someone at £2m or £3m that can become a £20m or £30m player.

"My strength is development and I’ve working closely with the people here to improve the squad.

“Yeah. The club is in a great position. But there is a model here.

“Coming in this second time I’m very clear of where that is at. It’s what I’m looking forward to. I can bring players in, and you want players who are first-team ready. But it’s seeing what the needs of the squad are and then getting the best player possible within that model.”

Meanwhile, Celtic's new signing Kwon has caused a stir by revealing that he will be the best player at Celtic and will graduate to the EPL or the German Bundesliga soon enough.

He said: "I received a lot of help from Busan I-Park since my youth days in middle school. I will work hard to become a player that the Busan club and juniors will be proud of. I will become the best player in Celtic and go to higher places such as the German Bundesliga or the English Premier League."
