Celtic look set to send two of their younger players to Admira Wacker, according to a report.

The Daily Record has reported that regular Celtic B team squad players Tobi Oluwayemi and Matthew Anderson will both be heading to the Austrian second tier for a year’s loan deal with the Austrian Football Second League side.

The report effectively confirmed that there was a partnership between the two sides – as was previously rumoured. It is hoped that this will be the start of a consistent relationship between the two parties, which will help both sides with their respective ambitions.

Goalkeeper Oluwayemi was previously out on loan to Cork City, but injuries curtailed his spell at the League of Ireland Premier Division side. He was signed from Tottenham Hotspur’s academy in 2019.

For left-back Anderson, this will be his first spell in football away from Celtic in his young career.

Admira Wacker have won the Australian Bundesliga nine times in their history but were relegated to the second tier two seasons ago.

Meanwhile, Celtic misfit Liam Shaw admits he is eager for more game-time after sealing a season-long loan deal with Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder will team up with former Celtic and Scotland striker - and Hibernian manager - Shaun Maloney south of the border and is convinced the move will be a success.

Shaw joined Celtic from Sheffield Wednesday in 2021 but has made just two first-team appearances for the Hoops and has been farmed out to Motherwell and Morecambe, spending the whole of last term with the latter.

The 22-year-old said: “I’m really happy to be here. I just can’t wait to get started. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, getting to know the boys, and getting down to business.

“It’s a massive club and when I spoke to the manager I really bought into his vision. I can’t wait to get started.

“It will suit my game. The manager wants to play good, positive football, and be aggressive, which is what I want to do. I feel like it’s a really good fit.”

He told Latics TV: “The main thing for me is playing as many games as I can, and developing as a player, and as a person as well. I am looking forward to it.”
