Following another stellar performance last weekend for Celtic, Matt O'Riley seems to have caught the eye of the Denmark national team, according to reports.
The 22-year-old scored his fourth goal in six Premiership games against Livingston on Saturday, as the 10 men of Celtic cruised to a 3-0 win against Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Wedged right in the middle of a Reo Hatate penalty and a long-range strike from Daizen Maeda, the latter fluffed his initial shot before the attacking midfielder slotted the ball into the back of Shamal George's net.
This - coupled with a string of good performances both domestically and in Europe - has brought O'Riley to the centre of the Danish national team's attention.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph posted on X: "Denmark are seriously considering promoting Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley to the senior team for the October international break. O’Riley has been very impressive this season under Brendan Rodgers. He’s still in talks over a new deal."

O'Riley joined Celtic from MK Dons in January 2022. He has been an ever-present in the side, making 80 appearances since his arrival. During this time, he has scored 12 goals and assisted a further 18, though he will be hoping to add to these growing numbers over the course of the season. Thanks to this move, he managed to break into the Denmark U21 side, where he made six appearances, scoring twice in the process.
His current club manager Rodgers is a big fan of the midfielder and was full of praise after his latest performance for Celtic. He said: "I thought he was brilliant. He’s a player who maybe goes under the radar a little bit but he’s one of the ones I’d like to develop to become a more efficient player. He’s a really bright footballer who wants to learn.
As Joseph reported, O'Riley is currently in talks with Celtic over a new deal. His current contract - signed when he joined the club - expires in the summer of 2026.
