Celtic make the trip to Fir Park for the first time this season where they face a Motherwell team who have made a strong start to the season.

Brendan Rodgers and his side are flying high, especially after the dominance of their performance and result against Livingston the week prior. Still, you're only as good as your last game and the manager will be keen to continue building momentum.

Stuart Kettlewell has done an excellent job since taking over the Steelmen in February and his team were unlucky not take anything from their fixture at Ibrox last week.

The Scottish champions won all four meetings between the two sides last season and the Hoops will be hoping to continue this run of form.

Who will Rodgers pick for this match? Our writers have their say...

Ryan McGinlay

This will be a tough fixture, so expect a strong team to be named. Scott Bain will receive his first start of his season at the expense of Joe Hart, who is suspended due to the red card picked up in the recent win over Livingston. It is an opportunity for Bain to stake his claim as he is clearly more fancied than Benjamin Siegrist. Hopefully, he has a better performance than his last start - which was against Hibernian last season – when he inexplicably dropped the ball into the net.

Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston will occupy the full-back positions. Both played well last time out at the Tony Macaroni, so hopefully there will be more of the same from the pair going forward. In the heart of defence, Nat Phillips at the back by Gustaf Lagerbielke. There must be an eye to Wednesday’s proceedings and as the former is suspended, then there must be cover available in the form of Liam Scales, who will feel unlucky to be benched given his form. This is purely based on transfer fees, but you cannot bench one of your most expensive signings in Lagerbielke. Give him an imposed rest in midweek and play him in this one.

The midfield picks itself with Callum McGregor assuming his usual spot, supported by Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley. Hopefully, the captain’s midfielder partners will sign contract extensions soon, as they both will attract massive fees when the time comes.

Who will play out wide for Celtic is a more difficult question to answer. James Forrest was effective in the short time he was on the park at Almondvale, while Daizen Maeda’s numbers speak for themselves. However, it is time to unleash a hopefully settled Luis Palma onto proceedings. Fir Park will provide perfect conditions for a dribbler like the Honduran to dominate. Maeda will join him, as he is simply undroppable at the moment. He’ll play on the right, while Palma starts on the left.

No prizes for guessing who will lead the line. Kyogo Furuhashi is going through a goal drought by his lofty standards (two games), so he will be hoping to put that right against Motherwell.

After recent performances and suspensions, Rodgers has a few decisions to make ahead of this one.

Bain will start in goals through necessity given Hart's red card. The former Dundee shot stopper has not played a lot of football over the last two years so will need to be at the top of his game.

Johnston will feature at right-back as he continues to go from strength to strength. Tomoki Iwata will make his first start of the season at centre-back, with an eye on Wednesday when Lagerbielke will be unavailable and to make sure Phillips is not rushed back from injury. Scales will start alongside him. Taylor will begin at left-back as he looks to build on his Player of the Match performance last week.

In the middle of the park, McGregor and Hatate will feature in the double pivot.

The midfield three in front of them will be made up of Palma on the right-hand side, O'Riley in the number 10 role and Maeda on the left wing.

Kyogo will lead the line as he looks to add to his goal tally for the season.
