Celtic unexpectedly dropped two Scottish Premiership points at the weekend when they drew 1-1 with Motherwell at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers men recorded their third stalemate of the campaign after Jon Obika's last minute counter cancelled out David Tunrbull's 85th minute opener from the penalty spot after Luis Palma has missed an earlier attempt from 12 yards.

The champions still managed to maintain their eight point lead at the top of the table owing to Rangers drawing 1-1 with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Japanese talisman Kyogo Furuhashi cut a forlorn figure at times at the weekend as he grew ever frustrated at his lack of involvement.

The 28-year old has claimed just one goal in his last six appearances for Celtic after seeing his role in the team being tweaked by Rodgers this season.

The Northern Irishman has asked Kyogo to become more of a link-up man and get involved in the attacks that lead to goals.

However, this has also raised question about Kyogo's suitability to play in that kind of system.

Celtic Way: Black Friday Deal

Is Rodgers nullifying the best aspects of Kyogo's game by asking him to play 30 yards from goal instead of as an out-and-out striker?

After Celtic's recent 4-1 win over Tynecastle, the 50-year-old praised Kyogo to the hilt when he uttered these words: "Celtic over the years have always had a talisman up front, but it's about the team, really.

"He’s a wonderful little striker, he gets goals, he makes runs, he can make more runs. Overall, he’s a fantastic focal point for us."

Some Celtic supporters reckon that Rodgers current system of play is not catering to Kyogo's strengths.

Despite signing a new deal in the summer tying him to the club until 2027 there are many fearful that Kyogo may well opt for a move away in January with a reunification with former boss Ange Postecoglou at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur being mooted.

Meanwhile Celtic have travelled to Rome for Tuesday night's Champions League win or bust clash against Lazio. Rodgers side know that nothing less than victory will suffice if the men in green and white are to keep alive their hopes of securing European football beyond Christmas in either the Champions League or Europa League knockout stages.
