Celtic face Dundee tonight in Glasgow, as Brendan Rodgers’ team looks to kick on after their win against Motherwell three days ago.
Following two late goals in North Lanarkshire, the champions will be hoping to go on a run from now until the end of the season, as they welcome Tony Docherty’s side to Celtic Park. Celtic have won both meetings between the two sides this season 3-0, as they have shown their superiority over last season’s Championship winners thus far this campaign.
With Rangers playing Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, tonight is set to be a big evening concerning the title race in Scotland. With that being said, who will Rodgers elect to start against Dundee at Celtic Park? The Celtic Way’s Ryan McGinlay and Tony Haggerty each have their say…
Ryan McGinlay
After what you would hope was a galvanising victory against Motherwell on Sunday afternoon, it is time for Celtic to kick on and start piling up victories from now until the end of the season. A packed Celtic Park will await Rodgers and his men, giving the players all the support needed to get the job done against Docherty’s men.
I reckon a few players have played their way into tonight’s team, in all honesty. One position that will not be changing is between the sticks, as Joe Hart will continue to start, knowing his future at the end of the season is already confirmed. The defence will see a couple of changes to it, unfortunately, due to injury for one of them. Rodgers confirmed yesterday that Maik Nawrocki has a hamstring injury, ruling him out for the next couple of games, a fresh blow for the injury-prone defender. It's a good thing that Cameron Carter-Vickers is fit and available to slot right in, as he will take the Polish stopper’s place in the team alongside Liam Scales. Expect Stephen Welsh to replace the returning Carter-Vickers if/when the game is won, though. On either side of the two centre-backs, Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston will feature, with both coming into this game off the back of impressive second-half performances, each getting an assist in the process.

In the midfield – despite being the first midfielder to be substituted – Tomoki Iwata must start, given his good performance away from home last time out. The defensive-minded player shores up the middle of the park for Celtic and puts out fires before they reach the last line of defence. He should feature in the majority of games from now until the end of the season. Just ahead of him will be the captain Callum McGregor, who needs to get back on form soon for the good of this season, much like his teammate Matt O’Riley. So much so, that Bernardo will be afforded a chance to start in the Dane’s place. I think a spot on the bench could do O’Riley the world of good, especially since he has not been firing on all cylinders since the return from the winter break in January. It is time to give the Portugal U21 stalwart a fresh opportunity in this team.
In the forward area, there are no surprises, as Adam Idah will lead the line thanks to his sensational double in North Lanarkshire three days ago. As much as there is a temptation to play with two up front, Idah deserves this opportunity to play on his own, as he expertly did so last time out. Thanks to his goal at the death, Luis Palma will be deployed on the left-hand side of the forward line, where he will be hoping to add another couple of goal contributions to his name. This may be the perfect game for the temperamental Honduras winger to get back on form, ahead of a tricky weekend trip to Tynecastle. Sunday’s catalyst at right-wing Yang Hyun-jun will be afforded a start, following his impressive cameo in the team’s last game against Motherwell. Having a hand in both late goals, he will be expected to bring his direct approach to proceedings, something that Dundee may struggle to deal with.
I fancy Celtic to score a few tonight and lay a marker down to the rest of the league. Let there be goals!
Ryan’s team: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; Iwata, McGregor, O’Riley; Yang, Kyogo, Palma

Celtic will be hoping to get the mother of all fillips after Sunday's 3-1 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park.
The optics would not have looked good for Rodgers' men had they allowed the gap at the top of the table to increase to four or five points. That didn't happen courtesy of another stirring late show and the Northern Irishman will be hoping that his charges keep the momentum going against Dundee. It's time for Celtic to come firing out the trips and the opportunity is there for them to blitz the Taysiders.
If they can start the game the way they finished in Lanarkshire then it could be a long night for the Dark Blues. Hart will remain in between the sticks and he will be ably assisted by Johnston at right-back and Taylor at left-back. Both men provided priceless assists for Idah's brace at the weekend and they will be asked to do more of the same. In central defence, Carter-Vickers walks straight back into the side. The American international is a comfort blanket and the faithful breathe more easily whenever they see his name on the team-sheet. Scales will be alongside him more by default than anything as the temptation may well have been to pair Carter-Vickers with Nawrocki but the Pole has been ruled out of this one with injury.

The engine room will see the same triumvirate start this game with Iwata, McGregor and O'Riley all being asked to influence proceedings in an attacking sense. There may be a question about the wisdom of deploying a defensive midfielder at home against Dundee but it was Iwata's very absence that caused anxiety in the last home match against Kilmarnock which led to Celtic being knocked off their lofty perch at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. Iwata's presence will hopefully remove any anxiety emanating from the stands and Bernardo is well equipped to come on and do a turn once the three points are hopefully in the bag.
In attack, the three that finished at Fir Park should get the nod. Yang made a positive contribution and a superb impact in Lanarkshire and it serves to let him loose again as his confidence levels will be sky-high. Republic of Ireland striker Idah was the game-changer in the Motherwell encounter and he retains the yellow jersey in place of Kyogo. It would be great if Idah could get off the mark at Celtic Park and get the acclaim of a full-house home crowd. The on-loan Norwich City attacker has yet to experience that sensation and tonight would be the ideal time for him to tick that box. The 23-year-old's goals return could prove to be critical in the title run-in. Honduran winger Palma added another goal to his impressive stats against the Steelmen and that should be enough to earn him a starting berth at the expense of the misfiring Maeda.
It's time for a touch of the rip-roaring, free-scoring, never-boring Glasgow Celtic to turn up and put on a rare home show for the faithful. It's also time to ramp up the pressure and send a message out to the current Premiership leaders that the destination of the league flag is not done and dusted...yet!
Tony's team: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; Iwata, McGregor, O'Riley; Yang, Idah, Palma.
