Everything that Liam Scales said to the media after Celtic's 5-0 win against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park saw them clinch the Scottish Premiership title...

How good is this feeling?

Amazing, brilliant. Just pure joy. I am delighted.

On a personal level when you consider your situation and where you started the campaign to end it as a champion. Is it immensely satisfying?

Yes, 100 per cent. I’ve won things back home in Ireland but this feels completely different because of the situation I was in and the turnaround I have had this year. Look, it is just amazing. I am not even thinking about that. It is pure joy, as I said. We are all buzzing.

How happy are you for the manager? He seemed quite emotional, didn't he? Do the players feel that he has also been on a journey?

It has not been a smooth ride for anyone, him included. We have had times when we have not performed well and he took a bit of criticism for that, like we all did. It is great for him. We are delighted for him. He has been here and done it before. We have always backed him. We always felt like he was the man to do it for us.

Last summer, your future was up in the air, could you have imagined that you would have played as many games in a championship-winning side and you've played such a big part in it?

I never really thought too far ahead of myself back then. I just wanted to play games wherever that would be. And this is probably – well, definitely - the best outcome that could have happened and I am delighted.

Have you been part of these occasions when you’ve not felt a part of it as you might have been?

Yes, definitely. The first year before I went on loan. It was like that a bit. It was bittersweet. You were celebrating because the lads are your friends and your teammates but you feel like you haven’t played your part as much as other people and it’s not as good. But I know I can really enjoy this now.

Is this a completely different feeling?

I feel an important part of it and it is much easier to feel and celebrate the emotions of winning it this way.

What has your personal highlight been this season?

Probably this, today. It’s got to be this. Winning it in that style.

Your fellow Irishman Adam Idah has made a tremendous impact since he came to Celtic. Do you agree with that?

He has been brilliant. I don’t know exactly what his goalscoring numbers are, but for minutes played he must be up there. He just seems to score every time he plays. He has had to be patient because obviously, Kyogo has hit form as well. You have got two different styles, but unbelievable options. We can play either one and be as strong. It doesn’t weaken us. He has been amazing and it is a credit to him. He has come here and put in the work and fair play to him.

Is there a feeling in the dressing room that you aren’t finished this season?

Yeah, we want to win on Saturday at home and make it a good occasion for our home fans. Then it’s on to the cup final. We want to complete the double. We will celebrate tonight and the season as a whole, but I don’t think we will be fully satisfied unless we go and win that cup final.

There is no chance of the players switching off then? That is not going to happen.

No, definitely not. I think you have probably seen over the last few years the mentality of the lads, so I don’t think it is possible for that to happen.

What was your overriding emotion when the final whistle went?

Just pure delight. It is just the hard work over the season – you just feel that is it, it is worth it. It is just an amazing feeling. I didn’t have any family there, but I will for the next one.

Did you have family watching in the stands tonight?

No, I didn't but I will for the next two games.

What will the celebrations be like?

We will go out and enjoy our night, but we have games coming up so it will need to be restricted a little bit. But we will enjoy ourselves because I think we deserve it.

Does the fear of failure drive you on? You will now approach the game at Hampden thinking you do not want the shine to be taken off the season and what you have achieved. Is that what keeps the best teams successful?

We know at this club that it is not enough, you need to win every available trophy. That is the expectation and that is the mentality we have. That is the way it is and I have learnt that this season playing. I saw it in the previous years, but being part of it now you feel it a bit more. It is a given, it is just the way we all think, it is the mentality that we have.

Was there a particular turning point in the season when things started to change and click for you?

I can’t think of a certain point where it started to click. I feel like I started strong and have carried it through. We had a couple of poor results along the way, but I think just playing consistently was my goal and I did that so I have been happy with that.
