Everything Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers said to the media after his side's 1-0 win over Rangers in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday...

Congratulations. Sum up your emotions after claiming a double this season.

It’s a great feeling. We knew today was going to be hard, and that proved to be the case, but it was good to get the win in the end.

Was it harder than you expected, or closer than you thought it was going to be?

Nah, not really. These games are always close and there’s always talk in the buildup about one team being better than the other. In every single game we’ve played in this season it’s been close. We knew we had to perform to win the game and luckily we did

The football perhaps wasn’t as sparkling as it has been in recent weeks. What do you put that down to? Is it the opponent, the occasion or the situation?

A bit of them all. They’re a good team and it’s a final. Finals tend to be stuffy and a bit cagey, and I thought that was the case today. Neither team really played great football on the ball, but luckily for us we took our chance when it came and defended well.

If I had said to you back in January that you were going to win a league and cup double, would you have thought that was on the cards? Was there always that belief?

There’s always that belief. To be fair to the manager, that’s what he did well throughout the season to keep us believing and by keeping a calmness in the group. We’re a positive group and we know that if we work together and for each other then we’ll get there in the end.

It’s been a tough season for you with injuries. Do you feel good now?

Obviously, at the beginning of the season, it was a bit frustrating for me with the injuries and stuff like that. Thankfully I got fit and have been able to help the team with the season. I’m good.

Is this double perhaps the sweetest in your time at Celtic?

They’re all sweet. Not just this season, but the past few seasons we’ve had some wonderful and enjoyable times. We’ll definitely remember these moments.

There’s been a lot of social media noise this week in the build-up. Is this a Celtic team that’s done its talking on the park?

There always is. To be honest, I don’t take much notice of it and I don’t think much of the team does, either. We focus on how we want to perform and if we can do, then we’ll win these big games. This season, we have.

Do you feel as though you came to life at the end of this season?

Yeah, I think so. It’s probably a combination of things, but we’ve worked hard throughout the season, and we’ve proven ourselves at the end of the campaign.

You enjoyed the moment - as did the team - but looking ahead to Europe and the Champions League next season, how much of that is a big target for you and the team?

We always want to improve. Not just in Europe, but in the league as well. We know the Champions League is a very high level and we have got to prepare for that and be ready.

How much more do you think is still to come from this team under Brendan Rodgers?

Whenever a new manager comes in, it always takes a little bit of time for their ideas to settle in with the group. I think towards the end of the season we’ve seen the fruits of what we’ve done. Definitely (more to come).

Do you feel the squad is going to get stronger?

I hope so! That’s our aim. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but as a group we know we need work hard. If we can do that, then we will improve.

Has the last 10 days felt like a bit of a statement from Celtic with the way you’ve got the title over the line and then the Scottish Cup?

I don’t know, to be honest. I’m not one to say ‘That’s a statement’ but for us, it’s about winning games and we want to win them as well as we can. The last 10 days, I think we’ve done that.

How much do the players want to see Adam Idah stay long-term?

Yeah, he’s done great. Especially when he first came in, he scored a lot of late big goals for us. He’s a great guy as well, someone that everyone enjoys being around, so yeah.
