Kasper Schmeichel - Making his debut for Celtic against his former team, he would have thought he had conceded an early chance that went just past the post. He would make two tremendous saves - both from Haaland - to keep his side ahead, though he could have maybe done better with Oscar Bobb’s tame effort, which he failed to keep out of his net. Nevertheless, a solid debut, and one that promises a solid relationship between the experienced keeper and his new club surroundings. More to come from the Leicester City legend at Celtic, that's for sure. 7

Anthony Ralston - Always up for the battle, he would put in a shift defensively - nothing new for the Scotland international. Didn’t put much of a foot wrong, as the dependable right-back got some valuable minutes under his belt. Solid enough from the academy graduate, who will be called upon more often this season thanks to the gruelling schedule that Celtic face. Rodgers knows he can rely on this player to step in and perform. 6

Stephen Welsh - Under the cosh - no surprise coming up against Haaland - Welsh did okay against the Norwegian, showing his passing ability on more than one occasion, too. Had a better night than his defensive partner Scales, in all honesty. A decent enough showing from the academy graduate, though consistency will be key in the coming weeks and months for the former Scotland U21 centre-back. 6

Liam Scales - Unfortunately for the renaissance man of last season, Scales’ limitations were shown defensively, despite some nice passages of play with the ball at his feet. After failing to keep Bobb’s shot out following his keepers’ original save, he was towered over for City’s equaliser by Haaland - not entirely surprising given the talent of the Norwegian striker. A rough night for the Republic of Ireland international, who will learn from his experiences against the world's best striker. 4

Greg Taylor - Like his teammate on the opposite side, Taylor acquitted himself well against the might of the opponents’ forward line. Allowing his attacking teammates to do all the offensive work, Taylor sat back and looked to defend when required. More minutes in the tank for Celtic's first-choice left-back against solid opposition, though he needs to get his contractual situation sorted out, for better or worse. 6

Callum McGregor - In the first half at least, the skipper allowed O’Riley and Hatate to flourish, mostly staying back to help out on the defensive end. Calm on the ball and eager to be positive when required, McGregor looks to be going up in his internal gears game by game. expect the captain to be ready for Kilmarnock a week on Sunday. Steady from Celtic's number 42. 6

Reo Hatate - Much more like it from the Japan international, who looks like a player who understands what Rodgers wants from him more than ever before. He would assist Kuhn’s second goal of the match with a cutting pass out wide, but his overall game was strong. This bodes extremely well for the upcoming season, one which Hatate must grasp with both hands - and feet! 7

Matt O’Riley - With seemingly all of Europe watching him now, he put on a show for his new admirers in this game. A lovely assist for Kuhn’s first goal, as well as lots of good work both on and off the ball capped off an impressive showing against the English champions. This man is destined for bigger - and perhaps better - things. Performances like these underline that point incredibly clearly. A superstar in the making - but we know that already. Dazzling. 8

Nicolas Kuhn - It’s make or break season for the German, yet he did his prospects no harm by opening the scoring just after the ten-minute mark. Receiving the ball from O’Riley on the right wing, Kuhn drove at Ortega’s goal before slotting the ball towards his far post, clipping it before it found its way into the City goal. He would cause even more trouble for the opposition with a tremendous side-footed finish which was dispatched of perfectly into the roof of the net. He turned provider, playing an intricate pass into Kyogo, who rounded the goalkeeper, which rounded off a supremely impressive 45 minutes for the German. Kuhn may well have arrived at last. 9

Kyogo Furuhashi - The talismanic figure has Celtic’s first opportunity of the game, with his low shot going past the post of Stefan Ortega in the City goal. He would score Celtic’s third goal of the evening, rounding Ortega following a delightful pass from his winger Kuhn on the right. Make that five goals in four pre-season games for the Japan striker - not a bad return for his troubles, regardless of the nature of the games played. 8

Daizen Maeda - An early menace for a youthful City back-line, Maeda was a nuisance for England international Rico Lewis to deal with defensively. With a couple of decent crosses and moves from the Japan stalwart, Maeda looks ready for the new season already - which should surprise no one! He will no doubt be an important mainstay in the Celtic side's next campaign, with this exercise being beneficial to reaching the level we know he is capable of fitness-wise. 7

Subs:

James Forrest - replacing the star man Kuhn was a hard task, but Forrest looked bright whenever he was on the ball, in all honesty. Still able to make good runs, the veteran looked sharp, which bodes well for the new season, regardless of his game-time this year. Solid. 5

Viljami Sinisalo - The first thing the Finland international had to do was pick the ball out of his own net, as the EPL champions started the second half quickly. He could do nothing with the two goals that he conceded, though he saved well to deny fellow Aston Villa alumni Jack Grealish to score into him. Solid with his feet and confident in everything he does, this looks like a good signing already. 5

Mikey Johnston - It’s fair to say that Johnston did not make the most of his latest opportunity tonight, despite his best efforts. He endeavoured, but was very wasteful in front of goal, in a game where he could have had at least a double. Pastures new may be perhaps the best option for the winger, as his chances to impress wind down game by game. Not a good outing. 2

Tomoki Iwata - Always battling to win the ball back and move forward, Iwata had a solid game alongside Kwon and Holm in the midfield. Nothing flashy, but did nothing of note wrong apart from one slack pass near his own goal. Dependable. 4

Colby Donovan - The youngster - alongside Anderson - looked very promising, bombing down his flank at every opportunity. One for the future, but an exciting prospect at right-back. Keep an eye on this player. 5

Gustaf Lagerbielke - got a booking for a heavy aerial challenge late on. Not much else of note to report on, as changes killed the flow of the game entirely. 3

Odin Thiago Holm - one of the bright spots of the second half, Holm again impressed with his footwork and passing, including a scrumptious backheel that nearly resulted in a goal for Johnston. A really impressive outing again for the Norwegian. 5

Luis Palma - Scored the winner - Celtic’s fourth of the match - after a lovely ball from Kwon to square it to the Honduran. A popular man in the US, his pitch invaders will have been delighted to have seen him score in his own continent. A big confidence booster for the temperamental winger, on what was a night for Celtic’s wide men to shine. 5

Matthew Anderson - Another player who is showing up well in pre-season, the left-back again put in a good performance against good opposition, following on from a fruitful loan spell in Austria with Admira Wacker. Both substitute full-backs tonight showed plenty of promise and can be proud of their efforts. A strong showing from the young defender - again. 5

Kwon Hyeok-kyu - The surprise package of tonight, the South Korea midfielder was excellent in his 25-minute showing for Rodgers’ side. Dangerous going forward and strong in the tackle, his willingness to push up resulted in him getting an assist for Palma’s winning goal. Arguably his best showing in a Celtic shirt so far. A good night’s work for the former St Mirren loanee. 6
