Everything the Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said to Celtic TV after the club's 4-1 win over Chelsea in Notre Dame...
Another win against quality opposition and another four goals. How delighted are you at that?
Absolutely. I think it is a great way to finish off the tour. I just said to the players afterwards that all the work they have done and how they represented the club in their time here has been absolutely brilliant. They can take great pride in that Also on the pitch, how we have played and how we have devoted the mindset to the work and the intensity of the games has been great. I know big teams don't want to lose games pre-season or not. In terms of performance, I think we got what you would want from a top team structure, you've got talent in the team and then you have work. That mentality to work and run with talent and structure gives you a great chance. I look at Kyogo's goal which had 23 or 24 passes involved in that., so it is about having the confidence and personality to wait for the moment. Across the board, I am really happy with the performance and the young guys coming into the game. There was no difference as they pressed the game, harassed the opponent and showed the quality when they had the ball.
The supporters over here have been so passionate and they’ve been so excited that you and the team are here, so how pleasing is it to give them the performances, goals and celebrations that you’ve had?
It’s so nice, especially in such a historical venue. In Washington, Chapel Hill and here (Notre Dame) our support has been absolutely magnificent. They are the difference, but they’re also why we’re here and why we can come to America. These are guys that have to get up early to watch the games in the morning back home, so to be able to take the team here and they can feel the shirt close by and live - I think they’ve enjoyed the three games.
These three games were all about preparing for the game against Kilmarnock. Are the team in the right place you want them to be?
I think so, but we have another good week of work before we get there. This last preparation phase over the last 12 days has gone as well as what it possibly could have done. The players are looking sharp, looking fit and intense and the quality of the football to score the goals. 12 goals in three games, and two of those against really high-level opponents. We’re in a really good place, we hope everybody gets back safely and we now prepare for Flag Day.
