The Fringe Festival is currently playing in Edinburgh at the minute but it was Celtic who turned up in the capital and put on a football exhibition of their own. Brendan Rodgers' men cruised to a 2-0 win against Hibernian at Easter Road as the defending champions maintained their unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership campaign.

First-half goals by Nicolas Kuhn and captain Callum McGregor had Celtic 2-0 up and home and hosed within 19 minutes of this one-sided affair. The visitors who were sporting their new-look yellow away kit got off to the best possible start in the sunshine when they scored with their first meaningful attack inside three minutes. Kuhn released Kyogo down the centre and his effort from 20 yards was parried to the right-hand side by Hibs goalkeeper Josef Bursik but James Forrest reacted quickest and he was on hand to square the ball to the German who had a simple tap-in.

Celtic were two to the good after 19 minutes when Kuhn was at it again as he teed up McGregor who hit an absolute screamer from 25 yards which flew in the net like a bullet.  How that would have impressed Scotland boss Steve Clarke and assistant John Carver who were watching from the stands. It was game over by then and it was a question of how many Celtic would win by. McGregor hit the post with a deflected strike shortly after the interval and further opportunities were spurned to add to the visitors' tally.

Of all the acts who were performing at the Festival yesterday, few will have produced an eye-catching display like Rodgers's Celtic, especially in the opening period. Celtic may not have piled on the agony but they did put on the style in the capital.

Kuhn Shines on Leith

It took the German winger of all three minutes to make his mark on this encounter. The 24-year-old gave Celtic the lead inside three minutes in this one as Rodgers's men scored with their first attack. It was Kuhn who followed up to tap home Forrest's low centre into an empty net after Kyogo's initial effort had been saved by Bursik in the Hibs goal. It was superb attacking play by Kuhn who probably felt Kyogo should have played him in initially but he was on hand to bury the opener as he got his just rewards for his quick reactions. That's two goals in two games for Kuhn and you get the feeling he could be a potent weapon for Celtic this season in terms of goals and assists. Chalk up three goal contributions for Kuhn already and watch as those numbers will steadily rise this season. He promised the Celtic fans he would be a different player this season and he has started the campaign with a bang. Killer Kuhn was at it again as he set up McGregor for his wonder strike that made it 2-0.  He was too casual in his execution of a second-half opportunity when he tried to sidefoot the ball home with the goal at his mercy.

Scotland's loss is Celtic's gain as General Callum McGregor fires goal of the season contender...in week TWO!

The Celtic skipper celebrated hanging up his international boots in fine style by hammering in a howitzer that will take some beating for the goal of the season award. It brought a beaming smile and claps from his delighted manager as McGregor fizzed a thing of beauty that exploded into the net in 19 minutes and it was game over as a contest. It was as Ian Crocker said in the Sky Sports commentary box 'Simply stunning...". It was a goal to remember from the Celtic captain who has now scored in 11 consecutive seasons for his club. That statistic puts him joint 15th in the all-time Celtic scoring records alongside Bobby Murdoch and Bertie Peacock. The national team will not know what they have lost until he's no longer there. This was a strike for the ages from McGregor and his absolute screamer had Celtic in cruise control and has to be a contender for goal of the season in week two! The midfield general ran the show as he bossed proceedings from start to finish and even smashed in an effort off the post after the interval. They said that Scott Brown was a Captain...Leader...Legend. McGregor is a clone. His decision to quit playing for Scotland will benefit Celtic and Rodgers greatly moving forward.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is a Celtic colossus

Camero Carter-Vickers is the glue that holds the Celtic defence together. The American international put in another flawless display at the heart of the back four. It is probably just as well as Liam Scales...poor old Scales...it always seems to be him as the Irishman reverted to type and put in another shaky performance and certainly wasn't assured as he was against Kilmarnock. If Scales is the weakest link then Carter-Vickers is most definitely the strongest. He is the best central defender in the country by some distance. Rodgers knows that he needs to find a central defensive partner who is cut from the same cloth as Carter-Vickers and an upgrade on Scales.  Carter-Vickers strolled around like Franz Beckenbauer on the Easter Road surface at times and he looked so comfortable with the ball at his feet. He is no slouch in any department really and it is amazing to think that the defensive colossus is embarking on his fourth season at the club. It has always been a seamless fit for Carter-Vickers and Celtic since he walked through the door in Glasgow's east end. It's not hard to understand why. He is Rodgers's most trusted lieutenant at the back of the pack and he has an unerring knack for making the art of defending look easy when it most definitely isn't. Just ask Scales.

Kyogo is now a major contributor to the Celtic cause...without scoring

Kyogo may not have blitzed the goal trail so far this season but my goodness Rodgers is getting a tune out of the Japanese talisman. The Irishman has unearthed a new Kyogo who is now heavily involved in the play and appears to be thriving on it. He even contrived to miss a couple of chances when he is usually more clinical. Perhaps it is the impending acquisition and arrival of Adam Idah that has added to Kyogo's all-round game but whatever it is Rodgers will not be complaining. The 29-year-old did have Celtic supporters collective hearts in their mouths when he went down and needed a lengthy spell of treatment. Celtic desperately need a new striker to compete for the jersey and to stop the fans from having palpitations every time Kyogo goes down injured after a challenge.  The risk that Celtic appears to be taking knowing that Kyogo's shoulder could pop at any time seems so unnecessary. All that's missing from Kyogo in terms of his contribution is the net to bulge. The trademark runs are still being made and he is causing havoc and spreading panic among opposition defences but once the goals flow then it will be an entirely different story.
