Kasper Schmeichel – His distribution was good, which is the only talking point as the Denmark captain had zero shots of note to save in this game. A solid acquisition for Celtic, for sure, though tougher tests will await in the weeks and months. An upgrade on Joe Hart with the ball at his feet, for sure. 7

Alistair Johnston – Not his best game, Johnston seems to have started his new season quite slowly, though this is understandable due to his international exploits this summer at the Copa America. He looked a little bit leggy in this contest but was still solid enough without necessarily setting the heather alight in Edinburgh. A player that many have tipped for big things this season, let’s hope that he’s a bit of a slow burner this campaign, who is just heating up for bigger games ahead. More to come. 6

Cameron Carter-Vickers – Solid as usual from Celtic’s number 20, Carter-Vickers strutted his stuff at the back for the duration of this contest. More of a playmaker at the back in the first half, he would be called into action more after the restart and dealt with everything that managed to come his way. Having a fit Carter-Vickers at the start of the season is a blessing that the club have not had for a lot of his Celtic career, so it is little surprise that they look so comfortable at the back when he is around. Another solid performance from the colossus. 7

Liam Scales – Booked early following a misjudged ball coming over his head, the centre-back could have folded, especially in a noisy atmosphere like Easter Road was at the start of this game. Thankfully, this did not transpire, and the Ireland defender solidified his performance following this error. He tried his best to progress the game as best as he could, with more of his passes being successful than not. Better is required in this area, but another solid showing from the much-maligned defender. He did well. 6

Greg Taylor – Again, the better of the two full-backs, Taylor had another solid performance to add to his impressive start to the season. Solid defensively and always looking to help out on the attack, Steve Clarke would have been impressed with his left-back in attendance this afternoon, as his all-round solid play was rewarded with a comfortable Celtic win. Though chat continues about a new left-back coming in this window, he did his first-team chances no harm with another solid showing for Celtic. Good to see. 7

Callum McGregor – People are supposed to wind down when they retire (internationally)! The skipper was solid again in other areas of the pitch, but his shining moment was the 25-yard screamer he unleashed in the 19th minute, which left the Hibs keeper with no chance as it landed in his right-hand corner. A thunderbolt which doubled Celtic’s advantage at the time, McGregor stepped up to the plate and inserted himself in the ‘Goal of the Season’ candidates in just the second week of action! What a goal, and what a captain. Brilliant again from number 42. 8

Reo Hatate – As the most creatively gifted of the three midfield men, Hatate gets a license to express himself and take risks more than his teammates in the middle of the park. As a result, some of his deliveries and passes are wayward, but he had more good than bad today, in truth. Picking up the pockets in midfield, his sharp touches and passes caused Hibs hassle, despite one or two going wayward in the opponent’s half. 8

Matt O’Riley – Speculation? What Speculation? Yes, the Denmark international has his suitors all over Europe, but you wouldn’t know it based on his attitude for his current employers. Another solid performance from the man in demand, as his touch was on point for the duration of the contest. Making things happen in the middle of the park, Celtic’s number 33 strolled this game, stamping his authority on Easter Road and Scottish football as a whole. You feel that bigger things may be in the offing for O’Riley, as the midfielder put in another stellar performance for the champions. 8

Nicolas Kuhn – Talk about an instant impact from a man with a point to prove! The German was in the right place at the right time, benefitting from a low cross from his fellow winger James Forrest to tap in the opener in the fourth minute. He would add another goal contribution 15 minutes later as the wide man found his captain in acres of space 25 yards from the goal. A constant threat on the right, he caused the home side so many problems with his direct style and a willingness to take on his man. This continued after the restart, too as Hibs could not deal with his pace and power on the right-hand side. 9

Kyogo Furuhashi – How on earth did Kyogo not score in this game? From well-saved shots to miskicks following good deliveries, the Japan striker failed to find the back of the net, despite playing well both without the ball and when supplying his teammates. Nothing to worry about, apart from when he goes to the ground injured holding that shoulder. With one striker on the club’s books presently, this is a risky game that the club are playing up front. Here’s hoping he opens his goalscoring account against the same opponents next Sunday. 7

James Forrest – Playing again like a winger 10 years his junior, the Celtic stalwart again looked sharp from the get-go, being fed good balls from the likes of Hatate and Taylor into dangerous areas. He would assist Kuhn for the opener following a spilt save from the Hibs goalkeeper Burisk, putting the ball on a plate for the German to tap home. Getting to the byline with ease and causing hassle for his marker, the Scotland international had an impactful 60 minutes, before being replaced by the returning Daizen Maeda on the hour mark. Classy from the veteran. 7

Subs:

Daizen Maeda – So good to see the winger back and action, he looked dangerous in his 30-minute cameo for Celtic, replacing Forrest on the hour mark. Direct and quick, the winger didn’t look rusty whatsoever. Expect him to start next week versus today’s opponent in the League Cup. 5

Mikey Johnston – The forward was in the wars for his club, taking a couple of heavy knocks before being forced off with a concussion worry. His future probably looks elsewhere, to be brutally honest. 2

Paulo Bernardo – His first appearance since returning to the club permanently, the Portugal midfielder almost sold the jerseys by daydreaming on the ball at the edge of his own box – thankfully it went unpunished. Apart from that, a couple of neat touches, but still a player that looks a few weeks away from full fitness. 3

Yang Hyun-jun – The South Korea winger did little to impact the game. Will have to do more in his cameo appearances if he is to break through into the first team. 2

Anthony Ralston – Did well with the ball in his limited time on the park. May have a bigger role to play – especially with Johnston’s fitness and potential fatigue. 3

Odin Thiago Holm – Too late to make any impact. Did not touch the ball. 1
