Celtic player ratings from today's 3-0 Glasgow Derby win versus Rangers...
Kasper Schmeichel - Another quiet game for the majority of proceedings, the Denmark legend was called into action only once to deal with a tame Cyriel Dessers shot. A couple of massive saves late on following the restart meant his league clean sheet record went to four. Good with the ball at his feet, today was a full display of everything Schmeichel can do between the sticks. 8
Alistair Johnston - Suffered an early booking that was harsh on the Canadian, though that was the only blot on his copybook this afternoon. Delivering a well-weighted cut-back into Daizen Maeda’s path, the right-back picked up an assist with his accuracy in finding the Japan winger. Solid defensively whilst carrying an offensive threat, Johnston bossed this game, giving his opponents very little to work with on the attacking side of play. Johnston ALWAYS understands the assignment. 9
Cameron Carter-Vickers - A much better showing today from Celtic’s best defender, Carter-Vickers bossed things defensively alongside his teammate in Liam Scales, who just shaded him concerning performance levels. Dessers had very little to work with because of the USA stopper’s defensive work, which was exemplary. CCV looked back to his best today, which is a scary thought for the rest of the league and Europe. Immense. 8
Liam Scales - His best performance in a Celtic shirt to date, Scales was colossal, making four or five massive interceptions and clearances to keep his side a clean sheet. No criticism will come his way this afternoon, as he silenced the doubters once again with a mammoth showing at the back. Winning every key battle aerially and on the ground, the Irishman bossed proceedings today. Auston Trusty may have a battle on his hands dislodging him out of the side. Brilliant. 9
Greg Taylor - Yet another strong showing from the left-back, who faces competition now from Alex Valle in his position. Comfortable both out wide and in overflowing the midfield as an auxiliary midfielder, the full-back was solid yet again, in what has been a strong start to the campaign for the Scotland international. He needs to get his contract sorted, one way or another, as he continues to be a mainstay in a strong Celtic back-line. 8
Callum McGregor - McGregor and wondergoals - a match made in Paradise. Yes, the deflection from Dujon Sterling helped take it past the hapless Jack Butland, but the strike was sweet and true, only destined for one area of the pitch - the back of the Rangers goalkeeper’s net. Another dominating showing from the skipper today, who intercepted, tackles and endeavoured his way to another Glasgow Derby win. Steve Clarke will be kicking himself that his in-form midfielder is unavailable for Scotland selection. Brilliant. 8
Paulo Bernardo - The best player on the park in the first half, Bernardo ran himself into the ground for 60 minutes today. Interceptions, tackles and graft were all on show from the midfielder, who looks a bit of a snip at just £3.5 million judging by performances like today’s. Arne Engels and Luke McCowan have some job on their hands in getting this man out the team - an awesome showing from a very talented individual. Should have scored in the first half - the only downside to his otherwise sparkling performance. A superb showing. 9
Reo Hatate - Not his best day, unfortunately, though he wasn’t dramatically bad. Hatate was wasteful in possession and failed to really get going, though he did have a couple of deliciously-weighted balls and passes that cut open Rangers a few times. Better days ahead for the midfielder, though competition has arrived for his spot in the shape of the aforementioned McCowan and Engels. This should kick him into gear. 7
Nicolas Kuhn - The German winger should have had an assist to his name, though his run was just offside from the slightest of margins. He looked dangerous on that right-wing alongside Johnston, but it was a day for the opposite side to take the centre stage. Despite not contributing to his six goal contributions thus far, you will not have to wait long for his next one, you would think. Quiet but effective from Kuhn today - the derby goals will come. 7
Kyogo Furuhashi - The main man FINALLY broke his goalscoring duck for the season, and what a finish - despite Butland’s failure to get across to the shot. Not just his well-taken goal was exemplary, but his willingness to run from deep and progress the play. Today’s goal will be the first of many, you would think. Another man who adores this fixture, and with good reason. Expect him to kick on now in the goals department. 8
Daizen Maeda - One of Celtic’s standouts today, Maeda’s performance has everything - both on the offensive and defensive ends of proceedings. He opened the scoring following a great pick-out from Johnston, whilst his defensive work was constant and effective at the same time. Quite simply put, he has James Tavernier’s number in this fixture, as well as Rangers’ as a whole. Relentless from Maeda - the first name on a Glasgow Derby. 9

Instant Analysis: It’s three and easy for Celtic on Glasgow Derby day
Subs:
Arne Engels - What an ovation the record signing had when he entered the fray, Engels put himself about in the 30 minutes he was on the park. Got a late yellow for tearing a Rangers player’s jersey off - the lasting image of today! More to come. 5
James Forrest - Making his 500th appearance for the club, Forrest came on to a standing ovation. The game was over at that point, and Forrest did little to impact the game offensively. 2
Adam Idah - Still getting up to match sharpness, he did little of note for his cameo appearance. The international break will kick him into gear. 2
Luke McCowan - The boyhood fan and deadline day capture put himself about - much like Engels - though he was more eye-catching than the Belgian despite costing £10 million less! He’s going to be a fan’s favourite with his tenacity and drive, that’s for sure. He’ll bring a lot to the table. 3
