Clinical Celtic hit Hearts with a devastating two-goal burst inside five second-half minutes to move three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table following an impressive 4-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.
Strikes from Kyogo Furuhashi (55 mins) and Nicolas Kuhn (60 mins) effectively killed the game as a contest in the capital before Adam Idah notched a late brace after the first half had belonged to the hosts.
It capped a fantastic weekend for Brendan Rodgers's men who also stretched their lead over city rivals Rangers to 11 points.
Neil Critchley's side were left to rue a string of opportunities in the opening period but Blair Spittal and Lawrence Shankland could not find a way past Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
How the Edinburgh side were made to pay for that profligacy in front of goal as Celtic sucker-punched them with a quick one-two.
Kyogo was on hand to drive home the luckless Daniel Oyegoke's clearance which ricocheted off Callum McGregor and into his path and he buried it at the second attempt.
It was all over as a contest on the hour mark when Kuhn fired high into the net after a lightning-quick counterattack.
Second-half substitute Adam Idah made it three and easy after 78 minutes when he angled a low finish into the net.
Hearts did manage to grab one back on 82 minutes when Musa Drammeh rammed home the goal of the evening but it was scant consolation.
Celtic were awarded a penalty in injury time when James Forrest who signed a one-year extension to his deal this morning was upended in the box after good hold-up play by Idah.
It was the Republic of Ireland attacker who made no mistake from 12 yards with a sweetly struck kick which went in low at Gordon's right-hand post.
For Rodgers Celtic, it was a case of a job done. Who is going to catch them at the top?
Cameron 'Colossus' Vickers was outstanding once again
It is easy to see why Carter-Vickers has only lost four of the 111 domestic games he has played for Celtic. He is as cool a customer as you can find at the heart of the green and white defence. The 'Fridge' really is a colossus and alongside his compatriot Auston Trusty, they made sure Hearts were repelled and kept at bay. One particular block from Allan Forrest was sensational as he flung himself towards the ball as the winger pulled the trigger. He moves with real elegance and grace at times on a football pitch for a big imposing figure. He has been a terrific servant to the Celtics and shows why defending is an art form.
Quiet Kyogo burst into life after the break
Kyogo was quiet in the opening 45 and the Celtic striker enjoyed just six touches in that first half. It looked like it was going to be one of those days for the Japanese talisman when he missed a cinch early in the second half when he slammed the ball off Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon. He was not to be denied and he notched his 11th goal in 14 outings against Hearts when his persistence and excellent movement were rewarded when Daniel Oyegoke's clearance ricocheted off Callum McGregor and Kyogo forced it home at the second attempt for the crucial opening goal. Ironically it was Kyogo's 10th touch of the game. That's what he does best - score goals.
Nicolas Kuhn is well on his way to the Germany squad
Are you watching Julian Nagelsmann? Germany national team coach Nagelsmann admitted last week that Kuhn was on his radar to receive his first cap and it is no wonder. This latest strike from 'Killer' Kuhn made it 22 goal contributions for the season as he took his tally to 11 goals and 11 assists for the campaign. The German winger finished off as sweet a counter-attacking move as you will see all season when he exploded a superb effort high past Gordon into the Hearts net on the hour mark. It was Kuhn's fourth goal in his last eight away Premiership appearances. Kuhn's sensational campaign just keeps getting better and better.
Paulo Bernardo is a baller and deserves a run in the side in place of the toiling Arne Engels.
The Portuguese under-21 captain is a joy to watch at times. With £11 million man Arne Engels struggling to make an impact in the engine room all evening it was Bernardo who came on and showed him exactly how it was done. The midfielder gave Celtic fresh impetus in the midfield and helped shore it all up for Celtic when they needed to. He is just a very clever footballer and makes a real impact whenever he comes on from the bench. It's fair to say that he has given his manager much food for thought ahead of the Club Brugge Champions League encounter at Parkhead on Wednesday night. Based on this evidence alone then he could well be the first name on the team sheet. Bernardo has a bright future ahead of him in Glasgow.
