Celtic were held to a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge on matchday five of the UEFA Champions League last night (Wednesday), bringing their points total to eight in the competition's league-phase.
With three games remaining, Brendan Rodgers' side now sit in 20th place of 36 – well inside the play-off round positions, which range from 9th to 24th.
Those teams who finish 1st to 8th will automatically progress to the tournament's last 16 knock-off round, whereas those who finish 25th or above face automatic elimination.
As per the Scotland's Coefficient X account (formerly Twitter), Opta Stats reckons Celtic's chances of qualifying as they stand on eight points is 13%.
Should they climb to nine points, their chances of reaching the play-off round increase to 42%; whereas hitting 10 points ups their chances to 94%.
After last night's games, Opta Stats are calculating that there is a 13% chance that Celtic's 8 points might already be enough for progression (24th and above)
