Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been urged to stay at Leicester City and not desert them as he did with the Parkhead side.

This is according to ex-Hoops striker Tony Cascarino who, despite branding the atmosphere at the Premier League as 'toxic', hopes the 49-year-old will see out this difficult period.

The former Liverpool and Swansea boss joined the Foxes in 2019 after winning seven consecutive trophies while in charge of the Bhoys.

However, he faced criticism for walking out on his team with several league and cup games remaining.

Now Cascarino hopes he does not make the same decision again at his current club.

Writing in his Times column, he said: "The atmosphere at Leicester City at the moment is toxic and there will be part of Brendan Rodgers thinking about walking away - which is exactly what some of his best players want to do.

"He has to stick it out and show that he can get control of the situation.

"Celtic fans will remember that he left them because he thought the grass was greener with Leicester.

"He has to prove he has a bit of substance about him. If he does, it will mean as much as anything he has done when the going was good."
