Kyogo Furuhashi could quickly emerge as a Celtic transfer target should Harry Kane leave Spurs, reckons Pat Nevin.

The pundit would not be surprised to see Ange Postecoglou return to his Celtic squad for reinforcements if Kane leaves Tottenham after a lengthy pursuit from Bayern Munich.

It was reported on Thursday that Spurs had accepted an offer for the club captain and it's thought Kane has been granted permission to head to Germany.

For Nevin, it raises the potential for Postecoglou to look back to signing Kyogo from Celtic - just two seasons on from signing him at Parkhead.

Any deal, however, would likely require a significant fee after Kyogo committed his future to Celtic as he signed new terms until at least 2027.

Speaking to Sporting Post, Nevin tipped Kyogo as a possible transfer target for Postecoglou at Spurs should Kane move on.

He said: "If Kyogo left, it would break Celtic hearts. He just signed a new deal which is good, however if the Premier League comes calling, it will be hard to turn down.

"The obvious place for him to go there would be Spurs. If Harry Kane goes, they will need someone who can link up play and is a natural goalscorer. Ange would have worked with him before, so he will know all about him. 

"Kyogo is not the same level as Kane, and he is slighter than him. Kane is world class, while Kyogo would still have to show that in a top league.

"If you give Kyogo the chance to score goals though, he will score and Ange will know that.

"I would like to keep seeing him in Scotland but I would not be shocked if he went to Spurs."

And should Kyogo remain at Celtic? The Nevin reckons he collects the top scorer award in Scotland.

Nevin added: "If Kyogo stays, it will certainly be him. He does not stop moving and doing the right thing, both on and off the ball.
