Southampton have offered Lyanco to Celtic, according to a report.

Saints are looking to offload the defender ahead of the transfer deadline next week.

And the Daily Record reports that Celtic could be one of his possible destinations.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, and Stephen Welsh have all been ruled out of action for two months.

So, Brendan Rodgers will need to draft in defensive reinforcements over the course of the next week ahead of Friday, September 1.

He's looking at several options with Celtic's recruitment team with time running out in the window.

And it's said that Brazilian player Lyanco is one that has been put to him.

The centre back, 26, is on his way out of St Marys.

He was close to joining Turkish giants Besiktas earlier in the window, but that move fell through.

Meanwhile, Joe Hart says he is ready to embrace the challenge presented by another goalkeeper arriving at Celtic amid speculation that manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to recruit competition for the number one position.

The 36-year-old former England goalkeeper has enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Celtic Park so far, and he has been acknowledged by both previous manager Ange Postecoglou and Rodgers himself for the work he has put in to improve his ball-playing ability to adapt to their styles of play.

Celtic though - who also have Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain on their books - have been linked with a move to bring in further competition for the gloves, but Hart believes it is inevitable that a club of such size will always be looking to upgrade their personnel in every position.
