Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has picked up his first award since his return to Scottish football, by being named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for September.
Celtic had a 100 per cent record in the league during September, recording victories over Motherwell, Livingston, Dundee and Rangers, to open a four-point gap at the top of the table. The lead has now extended to seven points ahead of the Scottish Premiership campaign resuming after the international break.
The Parkhead side have made an unbeaten start to the defence of their Scottish Premiership title with seven wins and a draw from their eight matches played so far.
After picking us his award, Rodgers said: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the players and my backroom team. We have enjoyed a very successful September with some excellent performances leading to very positive results in the league.
“Although it is early in the season, everyone is getting to know my way of working and the players’ togetherness and application has been tremendous. Even in the face of some significant injury challenges, the whole squad has stood up extremely well with so many players making important contributions.
“Our focus now will be to continue this good work as we face some tough tests ahead.” I would also like to take this opportunity once again to thank our fans for the great positive support they continue to give to the team.”
Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, added: “Celtic’s league form was strong throughout September, with three away victories and the loss of just one goal from their four matches, and so our voting panel had no hesitation in selecting Brendan Rodgers as our Glen’s Manager of the Month for September.
“After a summer of change at the club, Brendan and his coaching staff are again ensuring that Celtic are setting the standards required to be successful at home and abroad. Their start to the league season has been impressive.
“My congratulations go to Brendan and all involved at Celtic Park on being named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for September.”
