Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Reo Hatate could miss six weeks after a double calf injury.

The Japan international suffered an injury setback at the Asian Cup as he injured both calves.

It means the midfielder will likely miss six weeks of action for Celtic having been sidelined for his country.

Asked for an injury update on Hatate, Rodgers said: “It looks like he has actually done both calves, from what I have seen, so he is probably going to be five to six weeks.

“Another part of this season where we have had no luck from an injury perspective to our top players. He will be back very soon and we will start treatment and get him back as soon as we can.”

Japan boss Hajime Moriyasu had said; "I want to hear the diagnosis from the doctor.

"However, it hurts both the players and the team when someone gets injured, but no matter who gets injured, we need to maintain the flow of the game and win. I think today's match gave me more confidence."

Meanwhile, Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to be out for three weeks after an injury issue against Ross County.

The centre-back was subbed off in the league clash with the competitive fixture aggravating his recent injury issues.

On Carter-Vickers, Rodgers said: “The medical team are saying probably around three weeks."

The injury blow meant a transfer exit for Gustaf Lagerbielke was scrapped with the defender kept at Celtic Park as cover in the defensive area.
