Former Celtic winger Jota is reportedly demanding he be allowed to leave Al-Ittihad.

The 25-year-old has been presented with a switch to another Saudi Pro League club but is set on a return to Europe.

According to Al-Jazirah, Jota has been informed that Al-Ittihad wish to move him on this summer after an unsuccessful move to the Middle East.

Jota had moved to Saudi in a £25m transfer deal after impressing at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou.

But he found himself unregistered at Al-Ittihad shortly after moving to the club meaning his appearances have been limited since moving to Saudi.

It's claimed Jota has rejected a move to another Saudi League club and is demanding he be allowed to sign a release and receive compensation to depart the club.

Reports state Al-Ittihad are keen to find a solution to the matter with Laurent Blanc not interested in keeping the winger.

Jota was excluded from the recent friendly against Al-Qadisiyah as he continues to be frozen out by the club with his future up in the air.

Wolves and Sporting Lisbon have been touted as possible transfer destinations for Jota with Marseille and Stade Rennais also credited with interest.

The recent development comes after reports Jota was prepared to join Al-Fateh under Slaven Bilic.

Jota was handed new hope when former Bordeaux, Paris St-Germain, Lyon and France boss Laurent Blanc took charge last month.

But he's sanctioned a move for Jota either or loan or on a permanent deal.
