Celtic have published the latest instalment of their recurring Unique Angle video series – and Liam Scales and Adam Idah's goals against Slovan Bratislava are a joy to watch at pitch level.
The Irish players topped and tailed Celtic's scoresheet on Matchday One of their 2024/25 UEFA Champions League campaign, and in the process became the first Irish players to score in the competition since Darron Gibson hit the net for Manchester United in 2011.
All five goals are, of course, worthy of top praise, but there's an argument to be made that Scales and Idah's were the best of the bunch – the former a bullet header on the end of an exquisite Arne Engels corner; the latter the coolest of finishes from the forward not long after coming off the bench.
Watch them all here:
Scales' efforts over the course of 90 minutes saw him rewarded with UEFA's Man of the Match award, on a night where Celtic made a slice of collective history by winning their first-ever opening match in the tournament.
Celtic's 5-1 thumping of Slovan Bratislava was likewise their biggest victory in the competition, and their highest-scoring – the club's 4-3 victory over Juventus on October 31, 2001 the previous holder of that particular achievement.
Celtic return to domestic action this Sunday, September 22, when they host Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup at Celtic Park.
