Falkirk supporters applauded Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel after the Premier Sports Cup tie between the two clubs.

Schmeichel, 37, spent a period on loan at Falkirk back in 2007 when he was signed from Manchester City.

After 15 appearances for Falkirk, Schmeichel would go on to play for Cardiff City, Coventry City, Notts County, Leeds United, Leicester City, Nice and Anderlecht.

Now at Celtic - after a free transfer move in the summer - Falkirk supporters hailed their former player with respect exchanged between the goalkeeper and fans.

A video shared on social media shows Schmeichel receiving an ovation from visiting supporters at Celtic Park after the Premier Sports Cup tie.

Falkirk supporters can be seen applauding Schmeichel with the goalkeeper waving over and clapping in acknowledgement of the gesture from fans.
