Roy Keane was in fine form again on Super Sunday as he brutally shut down Jamie Carragher's claim that Steven Gerrard is Liverpool's greatest ever player - because he never went to another European club.

The former Rangers boss spent 17 years at Anfield, where he won the Champions League in 2005, two FA Cups and three League Cups before heading off to LA Galaxy in 2015 to see out his career.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, Carragher insisted that Gerrard's loyalty to the Merseyside club puts him above the rest.

"Michael Owen moved, and Steve McManaman moved, and they were two amazing players for Liverpool," he said.

"But they're not thought of as amazing players by Liverpool supporters because they moved on.

"And that's one of the reasons why Steven Gerrard is such a legend at the club and seen as one of the greatest ever players to play for the club - because he stayed here for his whole career."

But the former Manchester United captain wasn't having that.

"So, loyalty? You think loyalty has to come into it? Right.

"I always say - you want loyalty, get yourself a dog."
